Children Kyu Examination requirements

Following are children KYU requirements in the art of Aiki-Tai-Jutsu
established by Yukon Academy of Martial Arts
and Yeshua-Do Int'l Grading Committee

12 KYU (6-7yrs old) white belt
* personally wearing/folding Gi (uniform) + tying obi (belt)
* counting in Japanese from 1 to 10 (1-ICHI 一 , 2-NI 二 , 3-SAN 三 , 4-SHI 四 , 5-GO 五, etc)
* the meaning term of Yeshua-Do
* knowledge of basic Dojo comments:
- ONEGAI-SHIMASU – please teach me – formula spoken at the
beginning of training, as well as during exercise before
- ARIGATO GOZAIMASHITA – thank you very much
- YAME – stop
- TORI – person performing technique - UKE –
an attacker
- KIRITSU – command get up
- SEIZA – Japanese traditional sitting
- HIDARI KAMAE – stance with left leg in front
- MIGI KAMAE – stance with right leg in front
- AI-HANMI – both partners are in the same positions
- GIAKU-HANMI -“mirror position”
* Bow in sitting and standing positions
* Ukemi Waza (rolling):
- KOHO-UKEMI-UNDO - cradle
- MAE UKEMI – front roll
- USHIRO UKEMI – roll in back
* Tai Sabaki (turn around):
- TENKAI-ASHI – return a 180’
- TENKAN – return a 180’ on the leg in front
* Attack:
- KATATETORI – attacker grabs hand of a partner located in the
position of the mirror
* Techniques:
- TAI-NO-TENKAN-HO
- KATATETORI KOKYU HO
* Any one technique
11 KYU (7-8yrs old) white belt with yellow stripe
* Material applicable to the previous steps and:
* Who was the founder of Aikido (Morihei Ueshiba 1883-1969)
* Counting in Japanese from 1 to 10
(1-ICHI 一,2-NI 二,3-SAN 三,4-SHI 四,5-GO 五, 6-ROKU 六,7-SHICHI 七,8-HACHI 八,9-KYU 九,10-JU 十)
* SHIKKO - moving on knees forward
* Ukemi Waza (rolling): Tachi Waza (in standing position on any direction)
- MAE UKEMI
- USHIRO UKEMI
* Tai Sabaki (turn around):
- TENKAN ASHI (step forward and return a 180’)
* Techniques:
- KATATETORI SUMI-OTOSHI
- KATATETORI KOKYU-NAGE (uchi variant – entrance at hand)
* Any one technique
10 KYU (8-9yrs old) white belt with orange stripe
* Material applicable to the previous steps and:
* Ukemi Waza (rolling): Tachi Waza i Suwari Waza (in the standing and sitting
position with legs change)
- MAE UKEMI
- USHIRO UKEMI
* SHIKKO - moving on knees forward
* Tai Sabaki (turn around):
- IRIMI TENKAN
* Movement:
- TSUGI-ASHI
- AYUMI-ASHI
* Attack:
- USHIRO RYOTETORI (grip for two hands of back Tori)
* Techniques:
- USHIRO RYOTETORI KOKYU-NAGE
- USHIRO RYOTETORI IKKYO
* Any one technique
9 KYU (9-10yrs old) white belt with green stripe
* Material applicable to the previous steps and:
* USHIRO SHIKKO – moving on knees - backwards
* Ukemi Waza (rolling): (through barrier eg. belt)
- MAE UKEMI
- USHIRO UKEMI
* Techniques:
- AIHANMI KATATETORI IKKYO (Omote i Ura)
- AIHANMI KATATETORI IRIMI-NAGE (Omote i Ura)
* Any two techniques
8 KYU (10-11yrs old) white belt with blue
stripe
* Material applicable to the previous steps and:
* Ukemi Waza (rolling): (roll sideways through barrier eg. belt)
- YOKO UKEMI
* Techniques:
- AIHANMI KATATETORI SHIHO-NAGE (Omote i Ura)
- AIHANMI KATATETORI KOTEGAESHI (Omote i Ura)
* Any two techniques
7 KYU (11-12yrs old) white belt with brown stripe
* Material applicable to the previous steps and:
* Ukemi Waza (rolling): (right leg in front roll left arm and vice versa)
- GYAKU MAE UKEMI
* Tai Sabaki (turn around):
- IRIMI TENKAN (in four sides)
* Attacks:
- SHOMENUCHI (cutting hand on the head)
- RYOTETORI (grip for two hands in front of Tori)
* Techniques:
